#1. The real estate price within Industrial Park was never the highest. Several years ago, city hall had a big problem selling residential property there. And the price is extremely low until many high profile managers start looking for leasing residence close to their office, which substantially pump up rents and the housing price. Generally speaking, most residents in Industrial Park are not rich except those foreigners.
#2. Suzhou is not the only city in China having environmental issues. Even at those developed countries, you can still read similar stories regarding local environmental abuses or ecological disasters on newspaper. You don’t need demonizing a city to get readers’ attention.
#3. “Environmental issues vs. Industry development” is quite a controversial topic. Many social & political factors get involved, especially in China. You can debate a lot based on your own interest but nothing will be changed. Even you could, other individuals might get hurt. So if you want to feel sorry for yourself, go ahead and shut the fuck up.
