We were monitoring various radio transmissions fromother aircraft as we entered Los Angeles airspace. Although theydidn’t really control us, they did monitor our movement acrosstheir scope. I heard a Cessna ask for a readout of its groundspeed.”90 knots” Centerreplied.

As I was thinking to myself how ripe asituation this was, I heard a Familiar click of a radiotransmission coming from my back-seater. It was at that precisemoment I realized Walt and I had become a real crew, for we wereboth thinking in unison. “Center, Aspen 20, you got a ground speedreadout for us?” There was a longer than normal pause…. “Aspen,I show 1,742 knots” (That’s about 2004.658 mph) No furtherinquiries were heard on thatfrequency.

In another famous SR-71 story, Los AngelesCenter reported receiving a request for clearance to FL 600(60,000ft). The incredulous controller, with some disdain in hisvoice, asked, “How do you plan to get up to 60,000feet?
The pilot (obviously a sled driver),responded, “We don’t plan to go up to it; we plan to go down toit.” He was cleared.

F15和B52的笑话
有架F15(注:美国双喷气发动机战斗机)为B52(注:8个发动机)护航,长路漫漫,闲极无聊。于是F15的飞行员操纵飞机绕着B52来了两个机动动作,并通过无线电问对方:伙计,看我的小鸟多能干,你那家伙能干的她都能干。
B52:是吗,那我就做个动作你学吧。
F15:OK!
若干分钟后,F15见B52未有任何变化,于是又问到:伙计,你干什么了?
B52:我关了两台发动机,现在轮到你了。
